Proper Newspapers for Publication

Most deeds of trust follow default Virginia law in requiring that a foreclosure trustee advertise the sale in a newspaper having general circulation in the county in which the property is located. Only three newspapers are considered to be have “general circulation” in Lunenburg County:

  • The Kenbridge-Victoria Dispatch (published weekly out of Victoria, Virginia);
  • The Courier-Record (published weekly out of Blackstone, Virginia); and
  • The Richmond Times-Dispatch (published daily out of Richmond, Virginia).

If the deed of trust has some other advertising requirement, then the foreclosure trustee must follow that requirement in addition to advertising the sale in one of the newspapers listed above.
